During lockdown everyone was forced into isolation and the museum was shut down. As a result, at the end of March, S.M.A.K. decided to invite as many people as possible to send in drawings. The call was open to everyone: young and old, amateurs and artists. The initiative was a way for the museum to actively stay in touch with its visitors during a time of crisis. The numerous drawings that were sent in paint a compelling and multifaceted picture of how their makers experienced this remarkable period.
The S.M.A.K. Moves pavilion is a design by Olivier Goethals. A publication designed by Edouard Schneider will accompany the presentation.
S.M.A.K. Beweegt, or S.M.A.K. Moves, is an exhibition programme that was created to reach a broader audience, and more specifically those that are considered as ‘hard-to-reach’.
