International Artist-Run Hangout Brussels

Various locations in Brussels
14 – 16/06/2024

Brussels Artist-Run Network is thrilled to host 5 colleague networks for a weekend of exchange, empowerment, and fun. Meet artists and art workers from Come Come (Venice), Swimming Pool (Prague), Art au Centre (Liège), Amsterdam Alternative, and Kolonie Wedding (Berlin) as we share our knowledge, skills, and experiences.

The Network has been growing steadily since 2020, connecting 115 Brussels collectives, spaces, and initiatives, as well as countless individuals. This polymorphous group can be the beginning of a coalition to defend shared values: affordable and accessible space for work and presentation, defying real estate speculation, transforming hegemonic cultures of isms (capitalism, classism, sexism, racism…) and competition into environments of solidarity and trust, informing governments about the realities of working as an artist, pressing on social policy making for the arts, etc.

Our international visitors programme is designed to bring key people from similar networks to Brussels to learn from each other and share knowledge on themes like self-organisation, collective empowerment, and affordable space for artistic production. We’ll also explore tips and tricks for working with local governments and institutions, and discuss the value of affordable long-term spaces in neoliberal cities, and (international) collaborations.

Join us for a weekend of connection, inspiration, and learning! Let’s build a stronger, more resilient artist-run community together.
