Communication and audience engagement for art in public spaces

Panel discussion with Stijn Van Dorpe and Elien Ronse on the occasion of Verzamelen Zocalo!, at Z33 (Hasselt, B)
28/05/2024, 09:30-18h

Stijn Van Dorpe and Elien Ronse are currently working in the village of Muizen where they are infiltrating the social dynamics of this municipality. Together with residents, they are asking how to make a place to live together in a village that is rapidly urbanising. At the symposium ‘communication and public action for art in public space’ in Z33, they will talk about their artistic interventions during a panel discussion ‘Communication and public action in three artistic practices’. With: artists’ collective 019 (Ghent), Collecting Zocalo! in Muizen, by Elien Ronse and Stijn Van Dorpe, Maarten Inghels, Moderator: Michelle Accardo

Art in public space can be a catalyst to connect people. How can one involve stakeholders and visitors before, during and after realisation? How does one best communicate about artistic projects? What information does one offer and what not? How does one ensure social support even after realisation? These are just some of the topics that will be discussed during the symposium.
