L’Internationale situationniste. Vies, textes et pratiques
Contribution by Vincent Meessen to an edited book about the Situationist International. Book launch at Centre Pompidou, Musée d’art moderne, Paris
22/06/2026, 18-20:30h
Working from a collection of previously unpublished archives from the Paul Destribats Collection held at the Kandinsky Library, this book offers a fresh perspective on the Situationist International based on the concrete conditions of its production and circulation: correspondence, postcards, brochures, translations, letters from anonymous readers, international distribution networks, and editorial practices. Serving as both an archival investigation and a research tool, the volume also brings together previously unpublished essays and interviews devoted to the trajectories, editorial practices, and transnational circulation of the Situationist movement.
Drawing on previously unpublished documents, Meessen offers « De la vie quotidienne sous la colonisation à la colonisation de la vie quotidienne » , a contextual exploration of the relationship between the SI and a group of Congolese students living in France and Belgium in the mid-1960s.
With contributions by Thomas Bertail, Mica Gherghescu, Nicolas Liucci-Goutnikov, Vincent Meessen, Ken Knabb, Penelope Rosemont and Anna Trespeuch-Berthelot.
