Seminar & workshop at the School of Conceptual and Contextual Practices

Vincent Meessen will be co-leading the seminar & workshop Spaces (in) Between as one of two visiting guest tutors at the School of Conceptual and Contextual Practices/ Royal Danish Academy of Arts & Rytmisk Musikkonservatorium, Copenhagen

15-17/11/2021

The School of Conceptual and Contextual Practices is a new school initiated in September 2017. The main focus of the programme is in challenging the positions from which we think and work. On the one hand, this means to question hegemonic readings of art, history, theory and territory, proposing alternative narratives from a non-Eurocentric, post-colonial, anti-imperialist, queer-feminist, anthropophagic perspective. On the other hand, it also means to disrupt the flow of decisions that lead from an idea to a finalized work and rethink the mechanisms through which it becomes public; questioning solutions that might be used by default, subverting the normalized order of thoughts, and suspecting any assumptions of what can result from artistic research.

This seminar of talks/performances features both visiting guest teachers (Salomé Voegelin and Vincent Meessen) and faculty from the two schools (Carla Zaccagnini and Søren Kjærgaard) who all will share their artistic work which in various ways relates to the manifold title meanings of Spaces (in) Between.
