Vincent Meessen exhibits Work: One.Two.Three in group show Polyphone. Polyphonies visuelles et sonores

20/05 – 07/11/2022

Polyphone. Polyphonies visuelles et sonores exhibition gathers artworks shaping sound constellations, as much convergent as divergent.

Installations, performances, drawings and videos, offer to question perception modes of polyphonia, along with its socio-cultural stakes and even political matters.

Exhibited artists, originating from various geographic contexts (Germany, France, Japan, North Africa) and historical backgrounds (from the 70s to nowadays), enquire the effects and power of multiple voices and sounds : Lawrence Abu Hamdan, Félicia Atkinson, Kazumichi Fujiwara, Rolf Julius, Christina Kubisch, Will Menter, Ari Benjamin Meyers, Rie Nakajima, Max Neuhaus, Natascha Sadr Haghighian, Matthieu Saladin, Lerato Shadi and Jorinde Voigt

Wheter it be to underline the fantasy of the unison or to highlight confictual phenomena through sensory experiences, Polyphone reveals different layers of what adequacy means, in terms of sound, between the multiple and the organised, the individual and the collective, harmony and discrepancy in contemporary times.

Curated by Anne Zeitz, conference master at Université Rennes 2, and Anne Yanover, director of Musée d’art et d’histoire Paul Eluard.
